Building Collaborative Support Systems for Students

90% of students experience problems in their academic lives. Of those struggling, only 15% seek help.

75% of those facing academic difficulties don’t speak up and therefore remain unsupported in many cases. It is concerning that large quantities of students are not receiving the support and intervention that they need from social workers and school counsellors.

There has never been a more crucial time to give students wraparound support. Offering young people an outlet to speak up and an efficient support system to fall back on is essential to their academic, social, and emotional development.

Establishing trust with students gives professionals insight into the well-being of young people. Building relationships nurtures a positive learning environment. Positive relationships between students and adults can show how young people can be supported in all aspects of their lives.

One study found that students drastically improved their behavior when they built a positive relationship with a teacher. Results reflected 38% less aggressive behavior and 56% less defiance. Teachers who build positive relationships with students can identify welfare concerns and refer them to a school counselor or social worker. Building a collaborative support system between teachers, school counselors, social workers, and other staff members can be vital to a student’s safety.

A strong support system plays a crucial role in shaping a student’s social and emotional well-being, alongside their academic success.

How ECINS Builds Collaborative Support Systems

Collaborative support systems build wraparound care for students, ensuring all relevant members understand a young person’s situation and know which actions to take.

As 75% of students facing academic difficulties don’t seek help, a collaborative support system needs to be in place. Students who ask for help can be quickly directed to the right support, while those who haven’t spoken up are more easily identified through early signs. This enables staff to respond faster and more effectively

This system promotes trust and understanding between students and teachers and efficient communication among staff members.

Case Management Module (CMM)

The CMM functions as a collaborative support system for students. Case information is stored securely with lock-down permissions, ensuring only relevant staff can access sensitive records. With guaranteed data privacy, teams can focus on delivering the right support to each child. Reducing administrative burdens allows staff to dedicate more time to directly helping students.

Moreover, the CMM captures data and visualizes it to help staff make informed decisions—for example, wheel assessments overlay past and current scores to clearly illustrate student progress over time. Users can conduct data mapping with individuals, specific groups, or entire cohorts.

Student Engagement Module (SEM)

The Student Engagement Module has been adapted to provide wraparound support for students via web browser or app. Our SEM has a variety of tools to track and ensure student well-being:

  • Task Setter: Allows professionals to set personalized goals for each student, such as assigning homework tasks after sessions.
  • Mood Tracker: Offers students an outlet to share their emotions to trusted staff members, acting as a form of self-therapy.
  • Chat Function: Facilitates safe communication between vulnerable students and professionals, such as following up after a session with a social worker.
  • Help and Advice Documents: Enables students to access pre-loaded resources on important topics, such as mental health or housing.
  • Attendance Tracker: Evidences attendance to additional sessions, assemblies or pep rallies via QR code scanning.
  • Calendar: Promotes organization and attendance by displaying due dates and appointments.

ECINS makes building collaborative support systems for students simple. By improving the understanding of students both directly and through information sharing with staff, ECINS systems give young people the wraparound support that is crucial to their well-being and success.
